A Day in the Life of Link Ministry

The nervous freshman walked through Cal State LA's club rush week, not knowing that a simple stop at the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship table would change the course of his life forever.

That freshman was me, and while I'd grown up in church, it was through InterVarsity that I truly discovered who God was calling me to be.

Those college years became more than just classes and coursework. Through InterVarsity, I found myself leading Bible studies, developing unexpected leadership skills, and forming friendships that still inspire me today.

After graduation and completing my Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary, I knew my calling was clear – to help other students discover their own path in faith.

10 Years of Transformation

For a decade, I served as a campus minister, walking alongside international students through their questions, doubts, and discoveries about faith.

Each late-night conversation, each breakthrough moment in Bible study, each prayer shared in confidence – these weren't just ministry moments, they were privileges that deepened my own faith journey.

A New Chapter: Connecting Dreams to Reality

Just the other week, I stood at a missions conference table at Azusa Pacific University, watching a student's eyes light up as she circled Japan on our world map. "I've always felt drawn to serve there," she shared, "but I never knew how to start." The joy in her eyes when I showed her how Link staff already serve in Japan, mentoring college students and supporting local campus ministries – that's what makes my current role as Global Communications Manager so meaningful.

This moment wasn't unique. Throughout the mission conferences at both Azusa Pacific and Biola University, I watched student after student discover that their global ministry dreams could become reality. Nearly every location they marked on our maps was somewhere Link staff already serve, turning their "someday" dreams into "here's how" possibilities.

The Road Ahead

The coming months hold even more opportunities to connect students with their calling:

  • I'll be leading a workshop at InterVarsity's Ambition Conference, equipping hundreds to start new college movements across the US.

  • At the Asian American Staff Conference, I'll work with over 200 campus ministers to strengthen international missions in our connected world.

  • And at InterVarsity's Urbana missions conference, I'll help thousands explore opportunities to serve overseas through Link.

A Personal Invitation

Jesus' words to "go and make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19-20) echo through each of these opportunities. But right now, my work faces a significant challenge – a $2,000 monthly deficit in my support. This gap affects not just me, but every student seeking guidance toward their calling in global ministry.

When I think back to that freshman at Cal State LA's club rush, I'm grateful for everyone who made my journey possible. Now, I have the privilege of being that guide for others, helping them connect their passion for service with real opportunities around the world.

Would you join me in this mission? Through monthly designated gifts to my ministry through InterVarsity/USA of $50, $100, or more to support my work and salary, as the Global Communications Manager with InterVarsity Link. By becoming a donations partner you can help ensure that when people feel called to global campus ministry, our message reaches them. Together, we can continue sharing the stories and opportunities that transform campus ministry worldwide.
